After visiting two vets over the course of a year, I've taken it upon myself to try to research skin irritations in cats in order to come to an understanding of what could have caused this problem in Buddy and what could possibly cure it. I'm sure I'm not the only cat owner who is frustrated with this exact problem. In fact, both of my veterinarians - Dr. Dennis Leon of Levittown Animal Hospital and Dr. Allison Howard of Banfield Pet Hospital- are frustrated as well.
Here in this YouTube video, called "Feline Raw Skin Problems" Dr. Robert Sidorsky, DVM discusses his frustration in diagnosing the causes of skin irritations in cats.
Oh my goodness-- You nearly knocked me off my swivel chair with that pic! I'm thinking you're going to have to go organic or with desitin (for babies with diaper rash) but what the heck to do I know?!
ReplyDeletehey nadine-
ReplyDeletehow early do you read blogs you crazy lady? how funny was it to find your comment on my entry that was essentially my homework for Suzanne's class! Excuse me, "not-traditional research product." I decided to do something personal instead of a school related research topic. Good god- so anyhoo, it looks worse in the picture than it is in person and it doesn't bother him lately. To keep it under control I give him fish oil and benadryl. Perhaps rogaine is next so the hair grows in? ha- peace!
Wow,,,My cat is having the same issue. Did his hair grow back yet? Which banfield pet hospital did you take him to? I heard they are pretty good.
